In plenty of cases, houses aren’t built well, so the sun doesn’t get a chance to shine through their windows, lighting up the rooms during the day. Rainy days are even worse and in such cases you will need to use lights during the day to be able to use those rooms.

Basement Lighting
In some cases, houses simply don’t have that many windows, being darker inside thanks to their design. In other cases, we’re talking about rooms that simply can’t have natural light, like basements turned into rooms which can be inhabited, and not just used for storage. The problem with basements is that their windows are either very small or non-existent.

By using a bit of creativity you can make a very nice room by modifying a basement. You just need to invest a little bit of time in it and use some of the ideas mentioned below.

First of all you can add drapes that have some lights behind them. It will help you get some extra warmth on the walls. You should also try to cover the walls that are bare, as much as possible.
In most cases, basements come with low ceilings, so don’t use any track lighting in them. Ideally, you should be using dimmable lights, avoiding anything fluorescent.

A lot of people love to make their basement into an area of entertainment, installing a pool table there and placing lights right above it. If you don’t know what type of lighting to choose, visiting a store and explaining your problem to the salesman should give you a few ideas of what you can use.

Getting the right type of lighting can make your house look great or terrible, so it’s an important choice you’re making here. If you want to lighten up your kitchen, you should use something that covers all its corners, without anything dim or fluorescent inside.

For a lounge, you should use dim lights, without exaggerating and making them too dim. Make sure the room has sufficient light that your eyes don’t strain when you’re looking at the TV.

As for the bathroom, the lights used here aren’t terribly important. Just make sure you have sufficient lighting in it, and you’re good. Try to get something that isn’t too bright or too dim. Something in the middle should do it.
